While many people falsely believe that Rottweilers are ferocious dogs, the fact is that while dominant and aggressive Rottweilers can be extremely loyal, loving, protective and caring. Also called the Rottweiler Metzgerhund or the Butchers dog, this breed is sturdy and has a lot of strength and doggedness. They generally prefer colder climates those that have been bred in warmer climates tend to lose their waterproof undercoat over generations. Rottweiler puppies are adorable, but when they grow up they make great protection dogs.

Feeding and Grooming

As with most medium sized to large dogs, adult Rottweilers need only one large meal in a day. However being an athletic work dog, a Rottweiler needs a balanced diet that can be provided by fresh home food that includes meat, vegetables and whole grain. These fresh foods contain antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and probiotics that ensure the overall health of the breed.

With a small and hard outer coat, minimal grooming is required for the Rottweiler even when it is shedding. Daily brushing with a bristle brush and occasional wiping with a wet towel is all that is required. A bath can be given once every month. Cleaning the ears about twice a week should help in keeping them free from infections. Leaving a Rottweiler out in cold or moderate weather is perfectly fine since it also allows for more exercise. In hot climates however, your Rottweiler is likely to feel uncomfortable. While grooming levels required for the Rottweiler are low, it needs more than adequate amount of training and exercise to control its aggressive and dominant temperament.

Exercise

Since the Rottweiler is a working dog breed and an aggressive dominant one at that, the level of exercise required for this breed is fairly high. Simple walks in the park may not suffice and you may need active periods of games, ball catching and other exercise regimes to keep the temperament under control. Having a yard in your house can help lessen the load on you to some extent. Mental forms of exercise are also required for a Rottweiler. Obedience training can fulfill this need adequately.

Special care and health concerns

A Rottweiler’s life span ranges from 8 to 11 years. Some of the major issues that this breed can face are cardiac health disorders and elbow dysplasia. Sometimes cataract and epilepsy have also been observed.

- SAS – A heart related disorder, the Sub-Aortic Stenosis (also called SAS) is a congenital disease that has been observed in many Rottweilers. The issue is further complicated due to the fact that the disease does not show any specific symptoms and therefore is extremely difficult to detect.

- Gastric problems – Rottweilers tend to suffer from gastric problems like inflammation of the small or large intestines. These result in spasms, vomiting, diarrhea and pain. Your Rottweiler pet is unlikely to take in adequate amounts of nutrition during these times of pain.

- Addison’s disease – Rottweilers are prone to both kinds of Addison’s disease – Primary and Secondary. These are caused due to inadequate secretion of hormones by the adrenal glands and show symptoms like laziness, vomiting and poor appetite.

Well maybe not the computer but now that you have your new little puppy friend at home, how to do Puppy Potty Training and enjoy the pleasure of having this little fella, or fellaress, around. It is better to keep in mind that along with happiness comes responsibility. Puppy needs your love and care to grow into a well mannered and healthy dog.

nolvadex pct dosage

The first few days are the most important and crucial for puppy to adjust to his new surroundings. One of the most difficult tasks that you will now face with pup is to potty train him. Bear in mind that puppy potty training could be irritating and tricky since your pup may run around and start soiling the whole house. However, the whole frustrating exercise of puppy potty training could prove to be rewarding in the long run as not only will it train him to do toilet in the appropriate places, but it will also enhance your bonding with your dog. It is recommended to follow certain guidelines for puppy potty training in order to be successful.

Crate training him may prove useful. Since the crate can be used as place for the him to sleep or play with a few dog toys, he will generally not mess his bedding, so he learns to control his bowels. Take your puppy out of his crate and take him to the backyard or to his potty place periodically, then he will know from the beginning that the potty time is controlled and confined to a particular place.

It is advisable to control and schedule the puppy’s eating time. Designate a proper place for his food indoors and let the him eat for about 15 to 30 minutes and then take him outside to do toilet after about 15 minutes of finishing his food, as a meal acts as a trigger. Practice this routine always; it will enable puppy to learn to control his bowel movements.

Your pup will be potty trained faster if you reward him for his success, in terms of praise or a pat on the back when he does toilet at the designated spot. Avoid treats, as they could trigger the urge to potty again. Avoid being harsh with your him when mistakes and accidents occur; just firmly point out the place for potty.

Designate a proper place for the dog to poops and peepee. Walk him to the spot every time; this enables your puppy to confine to one particular place and also, since the smell of the urine acts as trigger, it is advisable that if any accidents occur inside the house the area should be cleaned with a deodorizer to kill the odor of urine or potty. If the deodorizer does not work then add a few drops of vanilla extract; this will definitely take the odor out of the place.

250mg depakote

Create and develop a schedule of going for walks daily in the morning and evening and encourage the puppy to do toilet during these walks. Also encourage him to potty at his designated place as constant repetition will make him identify where he should go.

Commitment and patience shown by you will make the task of puppy potty training him pretty easy. With dedication and following a few tips, your puppy potty training program will be a success and leave your home odor free.

Bringing home a puppy or even an adult dog for the first time is an exhilarating experience. For the puppy or dog it can be a time of extreme anxiety and stress.
So preparing for this exciting event is of the utmost importance, for you and your dog.
Preparing your home for his or her arrival
Deciding what type of character and personality is best suited to your lifestyle.
How much space do you have? This may determine the size of dog you should choose.
These and many other things have to be taken in to consideration before taking that all important step in to the canine world.
One thing is for sure that once you make that decision it is most definitely a commitment for life.
Whether you choose a puppy while foods coumadin avoid to on or a mature dog he or she is for life and is for sure a canine extension to your family.
Considering a dog from a rescue shelter should be high on your list, as this is effectively saving a dogs life.
Whatever your choice is, your new dog or puppy will without question give you in return, unconditional love, loyalty and years and years of fun and enjoyment.
This commitment, however, also comes with a suitcase full of challenges and if it’s your first time, a whole new learning curve.
Here are just a few things you will need to be ready for;
Dog Health and care –

Vaccinations every year

Dental Care

Bathing and Grooming

Preparing against those summer nasties, Fleas, Ticks and Mosquitoes

Food, diet and nutrition

Regular inspections of the ears and nether regions

And of course throughout their lives there will be many other things that will need your attention.
However, on the more fun side of things there are, nowadays, lots of dog activities that you can do

life half risperdal

such as;

Agility

Fun racing

Lure coursing

Showing

Flyball (new), which fast growing and tremendously exciting

Line Dancing, yes, I said line dancing. This is very popular and great to watch

All of these are very exciting and entertaining and of course will very much help you to build a bond with your dog.
The last thing I will talk about now is the dreaded dog behaviour training.
There are many books, courses and videos on this subject and I have very particular views on this subject.
This and of course the other things I have mentioned, I will be going in to in great detail on this blog. Therefore, my views, advise and recommendations will be well documented.
But, just to cover this subject briefly, you don’t want your new companion peeing on your new rug, eating your brand new 500 dollar Gucci watch or leaving teeth marks in your rear. So behaviour coaching, teaching your canine newcomer some of the family protocols is going to be necessary.
Dogs are like us, they come in all shapes and sizes, intelligent and a mixed bag of characters and personalities
Depending on whether you picked the short straw will determining how big a challenge this is going to be. In my experience it has been my most enjoyable part of a relationship with them.
I have a philosophy which has always worked for me and that is, dogs love routine, food and lots and lots of TLC.
If you give them those three things then you’re not going to have too many problems with your dog.
Hope to see you back soon.
